Andrew Fialka, Ph.D.

Andrew Fialka holds a B.A. from the University of Missouri, a M.A. from West Virginia University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. He is associate professor of history at Middle Tennessee State University where he teaches courses on American History, the Civil War and Reconstruction, Guerrilla War, GIS for Humanists, and Historical Research Methods. His research uses spatial analyses in GIS to study guerrilla violence during the American Civil War. He has also served as a National Park Service park ranger at the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park in Virginia. He is the author of Hope Never to See It: A Graphic History of Guerrilla Violence during the American Civil War (UGA Press, 2025) which was illustrated by Anderson Carman of Savannah College of Art and Design.
