Pasquale Civiletti was apprenticed in sculpture by his brother Benedetto. Before winning the competition for the Giuseppe Verdi Monument, Civiletti presented numerous works at exhibitions in Milan. He continued to live and work in Italy after the unveiling of the Verdi Monument, where he died in his birth city of Palermo in 1952.

Abstract
Pasquale Civiletti was born in Palermo, Italy in 1858, where he acted as his brother, Benedetto Civiletti's, apprentice in the art of sculpture. He won a competition to design and sculpt the monument of Giuseppe Verdi in New York. Civiletti never moved full-time to the United States and continued to work in Palermo till his death in 1952.
